Janitza Rivera—Ms. Virginia Woman of Achievement
Anyone who has been to Smiles for Life has witnessed our exceptional staff first hand, and many people would tell you that Janitza Rivera stands out for her exuberant personality and for her dedication in making our office a great place to be. Whether it’s consulting with patients one-on-one, answering questions over the phone, or scheduling appointments with our doctors, she is always working hard to keep our office running smoothly and to keep our patients happy.
We witness Janitza’s amazingness every day, so we are so proud that she has been chosen as the Ms. Virginia Woman of Achievement for 2016. The Woman of Achievement pageant was started in 2005 as a way to honor women who go above and beyond to improve themselves and their communities. The pageant emphasizes “the golden rule, sisterhood, and integrity,” encouraging women to support and lift one another in order to help every woman achieve her vision.
Janitza embodies these values totally with the hard work and determination she displays in everything she does. She moved from Puerto Rico to North America in 1994 and faced the struggle of learning English, which she now speaks fluently. Janitza still continues to improve herself through education, hoping to return to school in order to obtain her Master’s in Business Administration. She not only works to better herself, but she also contributes to her community. Janitza volunteers at Relay for Life and has a breast cancer awareness platform, teaching women about the importance of regular screenings in order to detect the cancer as early as possible and avoid many of the problems that come with a late diagnosis. She also volunteers at Dentistry from the Heart—a program that provides free dental care to those in the most desperate need of it.
We at Smiles for Life feel so lucky to have Janitza as a part of our dental family and staff. Stop on by, leave a comment on our Facebook page, or Tweet at us to let her know how proud you are of her!
