Becky McIntyre - Office Manager and Registered Dental Hygienist
As Dr. McIntyre’s wife, Becky has been around dentistry ever since they got married. However, after their youngest son started elementary school, she returned to college and earned her dental hygiene degree from VA Western Community College in 1997. She loves dentistry because it gives her the opportunity to help our patients improve their life and become healthier and happier. Becky’s first love is her amazing husband and six wonderful children, their spouses, and of course the 19 BEST grandchildren. She loves spending time with the family and spends most of her vacation time traveling around the country to see all of them. In her spare time, she enjoys flower gardening, reading, and working with the teenagers at her church.
Janitza Rivera – Assistant Office Manager/Production Coordinator
Janitza is originally from Puerto Rico. She attended and graduated from Mary Baldwin College in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Social Work and minor in Spanish. In 2015 she completed a Business Executive Power Program along with Becky McIntyre, our office manager, at MGE – Management Experts Inc. in Clearwater, Florida. At the same time, she also attended and completed the Leadership School at MGE. She was a Medical Interpreter for the Shenandoah Valley for 6 years, and she is very delighted to be able to help the Hispanic community in this area with their dental needs. In 2016 she was part of the Leadership Team at the American Cancer Society, and in 2017 she volunteered in our dental clinic in Haiti with Dr. McIntyre, Becky, and Erica, one of our dental hygienists.
Janitza has been in the dental field for over fifteen years. Educating our patients is very important to her and she feels honored that Drs. McIntyre, Whiting, Rockey, and Ash allow her to do so.
Janitza says, “I love the people I work with. We all treat each other with respect and much love; just the same way we treat our own families. We love to smile, laugh, and have fun with one another, especially with our patients. We are a group of people that like to continue to learn and grow.”
She enjoys sports such as basketball, track, and especially volleyball. She loves spending time with her family, especially her new baby girl, Keyani Faith. In her spare time, Janitza enjoys volunteering, blogging, wine tastings, and educating herself about leadership. In 2016 and 2017, she was chosen as Miss Virginia Woman of Achievement.
Jody Shifflett - New Patient Coordinator
Jody was born and raised here in Bridgewater. She graduated from Turner Ashby High School and Massanutten Technical Center in 1990. She has always been involved with dentistry in some way since graduating. She has worked in General Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Endodontics. She has three children that she is very proud of and encourages them to be the best they can be.
Tara Kenney - Scheduling Coordinator
Tara was born and raised here in the Valley. She enjoys spending time with her family and doing things outdoors such as hiking, kayaking, and camping.
Tara says that she loves our office because it is always filled with fun and laughter and because we want to give our patients a warm experience at each visit. She is so thankful to be part of a team that cares and wants the best for their patients.
Amy Crosby - Financial Coordinator
Amy grew up on the west coast in Canby, Oregon, in a community very similar to Bridgewater. She has a large family with five children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing and enjoying all that Virginia has to offer. She is very involved with her church.
Amy loves to learn and grow in her position at the office. She looks forward to many more years helping people to better their lives with a healthy smile.
Samantha Offenbacker - Hygiene Coordinator
Samantha is a Valley native and still lives in Rockingham County. She graduated from our Assist to Succeed Dental School for Dental Assisting in 2014. She loves her family and dogs. Samantha enjoys being outdoors, attending sporting events, and cheering on the Redskins! She also likes being able to grow through learning new courses in the dental and orthodontic field.
Riley Hebdon - Receptionist/Marketing Coordinator
Riley was born and raised in Idaho and has lived in Rockingham for three years. She graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a degree in Professional Writing in 2016. In her spare time, Riley loves painting, cooking, reading, and spending time with her husband, Josh, and their two dogs.
Riley works as the Marketing Coordinator, and she enjoys having the opportunity to work on new and exciting things every single day!

Cathy Batten - Registered Dental Hygienist
Cathy has been a dental hygienist for 20 years and just celebrated 19 years at our office. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 1999 from West Liberty University. There she was awarded the Comprehensive Patient Care Award. Cathy has been married to her husband, Scott, for 25 years and they have a 16 year old daughter, Erin. Cathy is a Girl Scout leader of Erin’s Senior troop and a small group Bible study leader in her church. She enjoys reading, flower gardening, bird watching, and shopping.
Cathy says that she loves that we continue to strive for excellence and that we are always learning. By teaching her patients good oral hygiene, she can not only enhance their smile, but influence their overall health.
Erica Monroe - Registered Dental Hygienist
Erica is a Michigan native and attended Grand Valley State University and Grand Rapids Community College. She has lived in Virginia and practiced dental hygiene since 2009. Erica has volunteered at several MOM projects and RAM clinics; she is very passionate about helping the community.
Erica loves to travel and to go on lots of mini-adventures. She also enjoys cooking and gardening.
Meghan Hill - Registered Dental Hygienist
Meghan is originally from northern Virginia but has lived in Harrisonburg since 2011. She lives with her husband and stepson. She has a dog named Aria and a cat named Ovi, after Alex Ovechkin. She is a big sports fan and loves the Washington Capitals and Redskins.
Brooke Miller - Registered Dental Hygienist
Brooke is from Michigan and attended the University of Michigan for Dental Hygiene. She enjoys camping, fishing, kayaking, and traveling the world. She wanted to work in dentistry to help patients feel more confident with their smile. Brooke says she loves working at Smiles for Life because "everyone here is so friendly, from the staff to the patients. Working with such great co-workers and patients makes work more fun."
Beth Heiston - Care Nurse
Beth is from Elkton and went to Spotswood. After that, she attended Blue Ridge Community College. She spent 10 years working in restaurants before taking our ATS class. As a child, she spent a lot of time pretending to be a dentist, and her mom was her number one patient! She is now a mother to a beautiful and sweet 4 year old girl. In her free time, she loves spending time with her daughter and doing any activity involving the outdoors.
Katie Lahman - Care Nurse
Katie has been married for almost 8 years to her husband (who she says is “the best husband in the world!”). She has a deaf cat, Snowball, who keeps them entertained. One of her most favorite things to do is spend time with her husband; they enjoy camping and cooking together. She has been a dental assistant for 3 years, and Katie is always amazed at how much more there is to learn. She likes fun socks, good dark chocolate, and “oldies” music.
Faith Lam - Care Nurse
Faith is from Elkton, VA, and graduated from East Rockingham High School in 2012. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, whether it be hunting, fishing, or just being outdoors. One thing that makes her unique is her love for people and the desire she has to help them in any way she can. After 4 years in daycare, she decided to try something new and became a dental assistant through our ATS class. Faith loves working at Smiles for Life because the people are amazing to work with. She says that it is worth more than words can express to change peoples’ lives and meet so many wonderful people through this practice. She could not picture herself anywhere else.
Shana Wilson - Clinical Manager
Shana graduated from Broadway in 2011 and Blue Ridge in 2013. She is married to her high school sweetheart and has two daughters. She loves to run and is always doing things outside. She has always been interested in teeth and why they’re so important to keep clean. She loves being able to help people and bring up their esteem and confidence with a new smile.
Rebecca Ritchie - Care Nurse
Rebecca loves helping people smile! She says that she is blessed to be part of a kind, compassionate, and fun-loving group of people who genuinely care for patients. She pursued a career in dentistry because she wanted to help others. Rebecca says that she has had amazing opportunities for mission aid service in her community and abroad. She was born and raised in Harrisonburg. She enjoys spending time outdoors and time in the kitchen baking treats. Rebecca tries to spend as much time as she can with family and friends.
Elaine Carr - Care Nurse
Elaine is one of the assistants here at Smiles for Life. She recently got married and is enjoying life with her new husband. She was homeschooled, then attended the Assist to Succeed Dental Assisting Program. She enjoys her career because “I get to meet and help lots of amazing people. Smiles for Life is a great place to work… my teammates are awesome!”
When she is not at work, she likes to spend time with her family, go fishing/camping, and take care of her plants.
Marina Artemyev - Care Nurse
Marina graduated from MTC in 2006 and has been working in the dental field for over 10 years. She is married and has 2 beautiful children. She loves her little family and enjoys spending time with them. She likes baking and interior design. Marina cares about helping others and loves seeing patient’s smile transform.
