Becky McIntyre - Office Manager and Registered Dental Hygienist
As Dr. McIntyre’s wife, Becky has been around dentistry ever since they got married. However, after their youngest son started elementary school, she returned to college and earned her dental hygiene degree from VA Western Community College in 1997. She loves dentistry because it gives her the opportunity to help our patients improve their life and become healthier and happier. Becky’s first love is her amazing husband and six wonderful children, their spouses, and of course the 19 BEST grandchildren. She loves spending time with the family and spends most of her vacation time traveling around the country to see all of them. In her spare time, she enjoys flower gardening, reading, and working with the teenagers at her church.
Janitza Rivera – Assistant Office Manager/Production Coordinator
Janitza is originally from Puerto Rico and came to the United States in 1994. She attended and graduated from Mary Baldwin College in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology/Social Work and minor in Spanish. She was a medical interpreter for the Shenandoah Valley for six years, and she is very delighted to be able to help the Hispanic community in this area with their dental needs. Janitza's family still resides in Puerto Rico, and she loves to always have opportunities to go back home to spend time with them. She enjoys sports such as basketball, track, and especially volleyball. She loves spending time with her family, especially her new baby girl, Keyani Faith.
Janitza has been in the dental field for over fifteen years. Educating our patients is very important to her and she feels honored that Drs. McIntyre Whiting, Rockey, and Ash allow her to do so.
Janitza says, "I love the people I work with. We all treat each other with respect and much love, just the same way we treat our own families. We love to smile, laugh and have fun with one another, especially with our patients. We are a group of people that like to continue to learn and grow."
In her spare time, Janitza enjoys volunteering, blogging, wine tastings, reading, and educating herself about leadership. In 2016 and 2017, she was chosen as Miss Virginia Woman as Achievement.
Jessica Tibbs - Hygiene Coordinator
Jessica was born and raised in Waynesboro, VA, and currently resides in Fishersville, where she has been for the past 15 years. She has two kids and two fur kids including a 19 year old daughter attending Radford University, a 15 year old son starting his first year of high school as a freshman, and two dogs, Reese and Charlie. In her spare time, she attends Blue Ridge Community College, enjoys hiking, visiting the outer banks, taking sunrise/sunset photos, making pottery, and Pintresting. She is also an avid UVA fan and enjoys watching basketball. Go Hoos!
Dentistry has always been of interest to Jessica, so she decided to pursue a new adventure with Smiles for Life. She has a true passion for helping people and says she is truly blessed to work with an amazing group of people.
Jody Shifflett - New Patient Coordinator
Jody was born and raised here in Bridgewater. She graduated from Turner Ashby High School and Massanutten Technical Center in 1990. She has always been involved with dentistry in some way since graduating. She has worked in General Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Endodontics. She has three children that she is very proud of and encourages them to be the best they can be.
Tara Kenney - Scheduling Coordinator
Tara was born and raised here in the Valley. She enjoys spending time with her family and doing things outdoors such as hiking, kayaking, and camping.
Tara says that she loves our office because it is always filled with fun and laughter and because we want to give our patients a warm experience at each visit. She is so thankful to be part of a team that cares and wants the best for their patients.
Amy Crosby - Financial Coordinator
Amy grew up on the west coast in Canby, Oregon, in a community very similar to Bridgewater. She has a large family with five children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing and enjoying all that Virginia has to offer. She is very involved with her church.
Amy loves to learn and grow in her position at the office. She looks forward to many more years helping people to better their lives with a healthy smile.
Riley Hebdon - Receptionist/Marketing Coordinator
Riley was born and raised in Idaho and has lived in Harrisonburg for two years. She graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a degree in Professional Writing in 2016. In her spare time, Riley loves painting, cooking, and spending time with her husband, Josh, and their two dogs.
Riley works as the Marketing Coordinator, and she enjoys having the opportunity to work on new and exciting things every single day!

Cathy Batten - Registered Dental Hygienist
Cathy has been a dental hygienist for 19 years and just celebrated 18 years at our office. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 1999 from West Liberty University. There she was awarded the Comprehensive Patient Care Award. Cathy has been married to her husband, Scott, for 25 years and they have a 15 year old daughter, Erin. Cathy is a Girl Scout leader of Erin’s Cadette troop and a small group Bible study leader in her church. She enjoys reading, flower gardening, bird watching, and shopping.
Cathy says that she loves that we continue to strive for excellence and that we are always learning. By teaching her patients good oral hygiene, she can not only enhance their smile, but influence their overall health.
Erica Monroe - Registered Dental Hygienist
Erica is a Michigan native and attended Grand Valley State University and Grand Rapids Community College. She has lived in Virginia and practiced dental hygiene for seven years. Before working in dentistry, she helped with several mom projects and worked at a half-way house as well as a mission clinic. It is clear that helping people has always been a priority to her.
Erica loves to travel and to go on lots of mini-adventures. She also enjoys cooking whenever she gets the chance and gardening.
Meghan Hill - Registered Dental Hygienist
Meghan is originally from northern Virginia but has lived in Harrisonburg since 2011. She lives with her fiancé and his son. She has a dog named Aria and a cat named Ovi, after Alex Ovechkin. She is a big sports fan and loves the Washington Capitals and Redskins.
Marisol Romero - Care Counselor/Care Nurse
Marisol is bilingual in Spanish and English. Her family originates from Zacatecas, Mexico. She was born in Lindsay, California, but moved to Virginia for all of her schooling years. Marisol is a 2012 graduate of Turner Ashby High School and a 2011 graduate of Massanutten Technical Center, where she studied dental assisting. She is also a clinical instructor for the "Assist to Succeed" Dental Assisting School that is ran out of the office.
Marisol is happily engaged to her fiance, Lorenzo. They have a beautiful daughter, Allison. She enjoys spending family time.
Samantha Offenbacker - Care Nurse
Samantha is a Valley native and still lives in Rockingham County. She graduated from our Assist to Succeed Dental School for Dental Assisting in 2014. She loves her family and dogs. Samantha enjoys being outdoors, attending sporting events, and cheering on the Redskins! She also likes being able to grow through learning new courses in the dental and orthodontic field.
Katie Lahman - Care Nurse
Katie has been married for almost 7 years to her husband (who she says is “the best husband in the world!”). She has a deaf cat, Snowball, who keeps them entertained. One of her most favorite things to do is spend time with her husband; they enjoy camping and cooking together. She has been a dental assistant for 2 years, and Katie is always amazed at how much more there is to learn. She likes fun socks, good dark chocolate, and “oldies” music.
Beth Heiston - Care Nurse
Beth is from Elkton and went to Spotswood. After that, she attended Blue Ridge Community College. She spent 10 years working in restaurants before taking our ATS class. As a child, she spent a lot of time pretending to be a dentist, and her mom was her number one patient! She is now a mother to a beautiful and sweet 3 year old girl. In her free time, she loves spending time with her daughter and doing any activity involving the outdoors.
Faith Lam - Care Nurse
Faith is from Elkton, VA, and graduated from East Rockingham High School in 2012. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, whether it be hunting, fishing, or just being outdoors. One thing that makes her unique is her love for people and the desire she has to help them in any way she can. She loves to make people happy. After 4 years in daycare, she decided to further her education in the dental field as a dental assistant through our ATS class. Faith loves working at Smiles for Life because the people are amazing to work with. She says that it is worth more than words can express to change peoples’ lives and meet so many wonderful people through this practice. She could not picture herself anywhere else.
Sarah Arey - Care Nurse
Sarah grew up in Mount Sidney and enjoyed spending time on her family farm. She became interested in dentistry and took our ATS class. She loves working at Smiles for Life because of the wonderful patients and says that being able to see them smile again is so rewarding. She loves to spend time outdoors, traveling, and playing with her puppy named Porter.
Shana Wilson - Care Nurse
Shana graduated from Broadway in 2011 and Blue Ridge in 2013. She loves to run and is always doing things outside. She has always been interested in teeth and why they’re so important to keep clean. She loves being able to help people and bring up their esteem and confidence with a new smile.
Rebecca Ritchie - Care Nurse
Rebecca loves helping people smile! She says that she is blessed to be part of a kind, compassionate, and fun-loving group of people who genuinely care for patients. She pursued a career in dentistry because she wanted to help others. Rebecca says that she has had amazing opportunities for mission aid service in her community and abroad. She was born and raised in Harrisonburg. She enjoys spending time outdoors and time in the kitchen baking treats. Rebecca tries to spend as much time as she can with family and friends.
