Our team is dedicated to serving the community with the highest quality of care.
Dentistry from the Heart
Since 2011, our office has participated in Dentistry from the Heart one day out of every year to provides free dental work to those in the most need. Volunteers from our office and the community work together to provide fillings, extractions, and cleanings all day long at absolutely no cost to the patients. Throughout the day, we serve nearly 100 people, donating almost $100,000 of dental care to the community. We know that our office has been blessed throughout the years, and we have made it a priority to give back however and whenever we can.
Dentistry from the Heart
We partner with Dentistry from the Heart to provide free dental care to members of our community.
We perform everything from fillings to extractions during our dedicated Dentistry from the Heart day.
Helping Haitian Angels
The Smiles for Life dental team is proud to support the non-profit organization Helping Haitian Angels. Dr. McIntyre, Becky, and other members of our team travel to the orphanage in the Kay Anj Village and provide all the dental care they can to children in need without the proper dental equipment they desperately require.
Though Dr. McIntyre, Becky, and some of our team will be returning to Haiti this year, they will still face great challenges in treating the children without this equipment. If you would like to help us provide much needed dental care to these children please click here, then select “Dental Clinic” under the section labeled “Apply my gift to:”. Doing this will help to support our goal of raising $8,000 to purchase a new x-ray head and sterilization kit for a dental clinic in the Kay Anj Village.
Check out our blog post here for more information and to see tons of pictures from the McIntyre’s visit to Haiti.
Cavity-Free Kids Club
At Smiles for Life, we recognize the importance of good dental health from the start. That is why we have our very own Cavity-Free Kids Club to celebrate our patients ages 13 and under who come in without any cavities to their cleaning appointments. These patients receive a certificate, a medal, and a coupon for free ice cream from Kline's Dairy Bar. We also like to honor them by putting their picture up on our Wall of Fame in the office as well as posting their photo to our Facebook page (both with signed parental permission only). Of course, it wouldn't be a club without a meeting!
Every February we celebrate our cavity-free kids by hosting a “club meeting” at Pump It Up in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Cavity-Free Kids Club!
The Cavity-Free Kids Club encourages kids to keep their smile healthy. They are rewarded with a party at Pump It Up.
Patient Appreciation Picnic
Every summer, we host a free picnic for our patients, their friends and families, and anyone in the community who may want to stop by. We provide prizes, food, dessert, and entertainment, including karaoke, a photo booth, a bouncehouse, water balloons, face-painting, and cornhole. Through the picnic, we hope to show our patients how much we appreciate the love and support they give to us every day. We love having the opportunity to interact with our community and show them who we are in and out of the office.
Check out our blog post from this year’s picnic here to see tons of fun pictures from the event!
Patient Appreciation Picnic 2016
The Patient Appreciation Picnic is a way to say "thank you" to our amazing patients!
Twice a year, our office volunteers at Open Doors, a local homeless shelter. Open Doors provides shelter and a warm meal for up to 40 people a day. It is a community shelter that is sponsored by a different church organization each week. When Smiles for Life volunteers, we prepare and serve food at whichever church is hosting, providing a home-made meal to many people who would have surely gone hungry.
Halloween Candy Buy-Back for the Troops
After every Halloween, we sponsor a Halloween Candy Buy-Back program in our office. Anyone and everyone is invited to bring in their Halloween candy to either donate or sell back to us for $1 a pound. We then gather up the candy and send it as a treat to the deployed U.S. troops. In the past, we have collected as much as 300 pounds! When people stop by to drop off their candy, we offer them the opportunity to write a note of gratitude to the troops that we send along with the treats.
Every Halloween, we gather candy and send it to our troops as a token of our gratitude.
Relay for Life
This past May, the whole team at Smiles for Life participated in the Relay for Life fundraiser to raise money for cancer research. We plan to participate in annual Relay for Life events for years to come, though we hope that one day soon a cure will be found, and these events will no longer be necessary.
Check out our blog post here for more information and great pictures from this year’s race!
Toys for Tots
In 2015, our office partnered with Toys for Tots as a donation center to accept new, unwrapped toys for children in need. We are always looking for ways we can support our community and those who may be struggling in their lives. While it’s easy to get caught up in the rush of the holidays, we are grateful for the opportunity to give back and think of others during the Christmas season. We will continue to be a donation spot for years to come.
We strive to be active members of our community and love participating in its many fun events. One of the traditions in our Bridgewater community is the annual Christmas Parade. The whole team at Smiles for Life dresses up in costumes like Mrs. Claus, the Toothfairy, sugar bugs, and even the Grinch! It’s so fun for our office to get dressed up and be goofy together.
We love partaking in community events, including the annual Christmas Parade. Our entire team dresses up in costume!
